Athian Names Livestock Industry Leader, Jessica Langley, to Vice President of Sales Role
Langley’s experience will help her connect producers and buyers through Athian’s sustainability marketplace.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN [July 02, 2024] – Athian announced today Jessica Langley of Greeley, Colorado, has joined its team as vice president of sales. Langley grew up on a sheep and hay operation in Northern California and brings more than a decade of professional experience in agricultural economics, production and sustainability to Athian.
“We’re excited to add Jessica to the team, especially at such a critical time for the business,” said Paul Myer, founder and CEO of Athian – the first carbon insetting marketplace for livestock production. “She looks at our product from the viewpoint of both producers implementing practices on-farm, and sustainability program leaders buying credits. This unique perspective will help us best reach and meet client needs.”
Athian combines advanced technology with scientific rigor to financially reward livestock producers for implementing sustainability practices on their farms. Through its cloud-based marketplace, food companies can buy certified greenhouse gas reduction credits from within their supply shed (insets).
“This role represents the intersection of my experience and passion,” Langley said. “I know I can help companies meet their sustainability goals while supporting livestock producers and demonstrating the sustainability of today’s production practices. That is what’s needed to ensure the future of the livestock industry, which I wholeheartedly believe in.”
Langley previously served as sustainability director for JBS and Pilgrim’s, USA – the largest animal protein processor globally. She also was a business analyst for the Context Network, where she worked with multi-stakeholder groups, such as the U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Beef, U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Poultry & Eggs, Dairy Innovation Center and National Pork Board to help establish industry-wide sustainability goals. Langley started her professional career as an agricultural economist for the Livestock Marketing Information Center.
Langley earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science and management from the University of California, Davis and a master’s degree in agriculture economics from Texas A&M University. She lives with her husband, two children and two dogs in Colorado and likes to garden in her free time.
